Total Body Cycling Circuit Workout

Happy Friday friends!

What’s on the agenda for your weekend? A few things I have going on areΒ a party to attend,Β plans to go to brunch with my hubby, and the final evaluation of the 6-week fitness challenge that I’ve been participating in happening. I’m looking to beat all the numbers I had set at the beginning evaluation of the challenge, but more on that to come!

backyard backbend play

Speaking of working out, today let’s chat about exercising at home. While I often workout at my HIIT studio, exercise outdoors, pop into my yoga studio or try out a new gym, I also enjoy being able to workout at home sometimes. My guest bedroom also doubles as my fitness room, and it’s nice to have the option to just pop in there for a quickie workout when I don’t have a lot of time to sweat.

Typically I do workout DVDs or YouTube workouts when I exercise at home, but the at-home workouts in my household got more serious and flexible recently…

bike trainer-1

…with the addition of a newΒ bike trainer that allows my hubby and me to make our road & mountain bikes stationary. It’s so nice to be able to hop on the bike for a quick cardio workout while watching TV. I’m diggin’ it!

bike trainer-2

Right now the bike in our living room because we’re redoing our fitness room, and as you may be able to tell,Β my pup thinks that cycling time = playtime. She takes out all of her toys when I get on the bike and patiently waits so that she can jump on me and try to play once I step off of it. I’m not sure what it is about the bike that gets her all riled up, but she’s such a nut!

She also runs full speed at me to photobomb a yoga pose photo!

She also runs full speed at me to photobomb a yoga pose photo!

Earlier this week I came up with an interval workout that uses the bike. This workout alternates between 5 minute cycling rounds and rounds of 4 different exercises – simple but effective moves like pushups, squats and planks. It works the entire body, and takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Cycling Interval Workout

WhileΒ it’s specified as a cycling circuit workout, really any type of cardio exercise will work.Β Hope that you try it out & get your sweat on!

Tell me… Do you workout at home? At the gym or a studio? Outdoors? A combo of all 3 like me?Β

Spread the love

I was just talking about working out at home in my post today too! Now that I’m staying home a few days during the week to work on the blog, it’s so much easier to squeeze in a workout at home. Not that I don’t like leaving the house, but it’s just so much more convenient. This workout looks awesome! I love that it’s all bodyweight so you don’t need any special equipment. And that bike trainer is too cool! My mom just got one and was saying how much she loves it.

    Have a great weekend, girly!

OMG that picture of your dog photo-bombing you is amazing!!! Seriously such a great picture πŸ™‚
I also love to ride my bike on the trainer and have the TV on, even if I’m not watching.
Great workout! I’ll have to add this to my line-up since I get bored with strength/cardio fitness workouts so easily. Have a great weekend!

What a cool idea! My bike is currently just sitting in a box. I need to fix that!!

I love working out at home and right now it is pretty much my only option except for my pilates classes.

I was looking at bike trainers too, but then ended up getting a spinning bike instead – it was actually cheaper! It really is nice having an indoor bike! You know me, I love my workout variety too! Too many workouts, not enough days/time! haha

I actually like your workouts. They are great for a cycler as mine.

We’ll be kicking off our week of family birthdays with my wonderful husband turning the big 4-0!

Something that intrigued me about Adam when I met him 20 years ago was that he seemed serious & quiet, but then would unexpectedly say something super witty or do something silly that cracked me up… & his serious-with-a-side-of-goofball personality remains true to this day (case in point: this video montage πŸ˜‚)

After all, they say to marry the one who makes you laugh β€” and I, for one, highly recommend it❣️ Here’s to hoping the next 40 years are full of many more amazing adventures & accomplishments!

1️⃣ fun-filled day in Istanbul! πŸ“

Our favorite parts:
⭐️ Sultanahmet Square’s interesting historic sites, including the German Fountain & the Egyptian Obelisk
⭐️ Visiting the beautiful Blue Mosque
⭐️ Exploring the historic district and trying the street food (Why is the ice cream so.. sticky?!🍦)
⭐️ Venturing through the hectic Grand Bazaar
⭐️ A delicious dinner @amedroscafe
⭐️ Making friends with stray cats.. so many friendly cats! 🐈 As a huge animal lover, I adore that the city seems to take good care of its strays.. This is the first place I’ve ever been where they have vending machines to buy food for stray animals!

When I was newly pregnant with Camryn before we knew her gender, I had a vivid dream that I was picnicking with a little blonde girl in front of the Eiffel Tower. I woke up and told my husband, β€œGuess what? We’re having a girl!”

We got Camryn a passport at 5 months old with the idea that we’d visit Paris later that year and turn my literal dream into a reality. But then, COVID hit a few weeks later.

By the time we’d be comfortable traveling to Europe, we instead were selling our house in New England and traveling around the U.S. full-time.

We had adventures in plenty of other amazing places, but Paris remained a bucket list item.

…until now! Our picnic in Paris as a family of three may have happened a few years later than planned, but it was a bucket list item that was exactly how I’d pictured, perhaps even better.

It was such a magical evening staring at the Eiffel Tower, sipping champagne, and noshing on local food that we’d nabbed at shops around town ✨πŸ₯‚

β€” all the while, laughing & soaking up the night with our wonderful little girl. πŸ’—

Do you remember when you truly realized that the world is wide and you’ve only experienced a speck of it? 🌎

For me, it was the eye-opening opportunity of a college study abroad program in amazing Sicily. I fell in love with Italy, and the experience made me realize that I wanted to prioritize traveling and living in different places when I became a β€œreal adult” (or in other words, when I graduated the following year).

Getting to return to the charming town of Taormina nearly two decades later with my family was a dream.

I returned to Sicily in a different phase of life: Older β€” I’ve almost doubled in age! Wiser. A mom. A wife.

Yet, still wide-eyed, always up for an adventure, and filled with wonder at the beauty of this world.

Different, but the same.

Taormina is still stunning, bustling with more tourists and more fame than I remembered thanks to things like β€œWhite Lotus” and Dolce & Gabbana fashion shows (one was happening while we were in town).

And so, I found Taormina herself to also be different, but the same β€” and definitely still a magical place ✨

Got to bake up some delicious macarons in the beautiful city of Paris! πŸ’•

Macarons are high on my daughter’s list of favorite desserts, and it was lovely learning how to make them from a Parisian pastry chef! The macaron ingredient list is short, but making them is an art ✨

Packed with fruit… but my kid calls it ice cream🍦We love breaking out our @yonanas gadget all summer long!

My favorite way to make fruit soft serve πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

INGREDIENTS
1 sliced ripe banana, frozen
2/3 cup strawberries, frozen
favorite toppings: sprinkles, nuts, nut butter, etc

INSTRUCTIONS
Remove your fruit from the freezer. Allow it to thaw for about 10 minutes, until it starts to slightly soften.
Place the frozen fruit into the Yonanas maker, a handful at a time. I like to run about 1/2 the banana, then the strawberries, and then the rest of the banana through the machine straight into a bowl. I then use a spoon to swirl the fruit together, and immediately place the soft serve into cones if using.
Add in your favorite toppings and enjoy before it melts!
Serves 1 - scale up as desired!
