Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie [Vegan]

My hubby and I have a very serious, ongoing debate in our household.

You see, we’re both grown ups that like eating PB & J sandwiches — though I make mine a banana, PB & J sandwich because it seems more adult to add a fruit into the mix — but he only likes grape jelly. I, on the other hand, think grape jelly is gross and prefer strawberry or raspberry jelly.

smuckers-jelly-jam

PB & J sandwiches happen to be our go-to thing to pack if we’re on the road, going to the beach or anything like that, so it has come up many times and usually starts something like this:

Me: “Babe, we’re out of grape jelly. Should I just put strawberry on your sandwiches?”

Him: “Nah, I don’t like strawberry jelly.”

Me: “Stop the madness…How do you not like strawberry jelly??”

PB&J smoothie-1

When my hubby’s grandparents recently visited, I had to laugh when both of them preferred grape jelly for their English muffins over the strawberry & raspberry jelly, and pumpkin butter options I also had on hand. What?!

Grape jelly lovin’ must run in the family.

Smuckers-Orange-Marmalade-Packets

Writing this post is making me think about how my grandma loves orange marmalade. She may be one of few people on the planet who seeks out the marmalade flavor in the individual jelly packet container at cafes and diners. I dislike marmalade even more than grape jelly. No thank you!

Different jellies for different bellies I suppose.

And now that I’ve talked solely about the important topic of jelly flavors this entire post (keeping it light today friends!), let’s get to today’s recipe, shall we? I turned my beloved PB & (strawberry) J into a smoothie because, well, smoothies in general are awesome, and a healthy, vegan, yummy smoothie that reminds you of childhood is even more awesome.

Oh my gosh! I hate marmalade! Gross! I love all other types of jellies though. I kind of like random flavors too like peach. I never thought to make a pb&j smoothie though! That is creative!

So only in recent years have I come around to jelly. Actually this is kind of weird, I used to have a very irrational fear of jelly. One time when my school made us go on outward bound, at the end of the trip we were cleaning our gear and they made me clean the jelly container and I refused. They leaders thought I was super messed up…maybe I am. I still prefer plain peanut butter (or with bananas and honey) but I can handle jelly now 😉

I know right!! Grape jelly in PB&J sandwiches really reminds me of a little kid meal, so I’m constantly making fun of my man about it ha!

Ugh grape jelly?!??!? Crazy town! I love jam the most- blackberry, strawberry, blueberry, you name it. Grape jelly is a no-no for me though! And orange marmalade…that’s interesting! Can’t say I’m a fan 🙂 I AM a fan of a PB&J smoothie though!! Looks yum!

I found your site while seeking out a pb& grape jelly smoothie recipe. I ended up reading your post, and I feel exactly opposite of you when it comes to the jelly flavors. I adore my delicious grape jelly, but I won’t touch strawberry jelly if you paid me…lol. So, I will have to agree with your hubby, and his family…haha. Now for the orange marmalade…I’m with you on that one:).

School’s out for my little girl ☀️& here are 4️⃣ screen-free tools that I’m using to keep my 6 year old busy and learning when we’re home this summer:

1️⃣ @mondaymandala’s awesome array of free digital printables on just about anything you can think of 🖍️

2️⃣ @youngwildandfriedman’s amazing sensory kits that are high-quality and last forever. I have purchased a serious amount of these play dough and sensory sand kits over the years & they are worth every penny! My kiddo will spend hours setting up all of the little trinkets and building little play dough towns.

3️⃣ @Canva’s printable educational worksheets ✏️ For instance, I printed out money worksheets & am planning on doing a money lesson that includes us emptying out her piggy bank to delve deeper into currency & paying for something she wants at the store with her own 💵

4️⃣ A @brain_quest workbook — I bought one last summer as well & we love incorporating it into little lessons at home!

Spent the day at 📍Murrieta Hot Springs & thoroughly enjoyed it there!

While we have visited numerous fun hot springs with our daughter, it was definitely nice to be out of mom mode & experience our local hot springs while our little one was in school. From hot tubs and cold plunges to saunas & clay mud, we got to kick back & enjoy it all!

This dinner at Eastern Mediterranean restaurant @ammatoli in Long Beach, CA 📍deserves a place on the grid — because sometimes, a foodie mom simply *must* book the reservation as she drools looking at the menu online, all the while having zero confidence that her mini me will be willing to eat a morsel of food there.

Our veggie-forward dishes, the ambiance & aesthetic, the service…all exquisite at Ammatolí! Swipe to see my daughter’s obsession - their mint tea! 🌿☕️ She too left a happy camper, with a belly full of tea and warm pita bread.

Celebrated the start to the spring season by baking with @imthecheftoo’s Bunny Bundts kit!

I really let Cam take the reins with this one, and while it doesn’t look exactly (or anything 😂) like the box, the bundt cakes tasted delicious and we had a great time together!

📍Murray Canyon Trail to Seven Falls is such a beautiful, scenic hike in Palm Springs 🌴

It features a palm tree oasis, rock scrambles & a number of stream crossings, which my daughter loved! When we hiked it last month, the water was high and FREEZING at the end 🥶 so bring your bathing suit if you like a cold plunge… This one was so much fun! ☀️

Details:
🥾Murray Canyon Trail to Seven Falls
👣 4+ miles out & back
⛰️ About 600 ft elevation gain
💲Must pay an entry fee at the Indian Canyons Toll Gate
❗️It was crowded when we arrived mid-morning & they do close temporarily when too many people are arriving. However, once we got to the parking lot, there was plenty of parking towards the back, closer to the trailhead.
