Tonight I decided to ditch my typical weeknight routine and head to the dog beach with Harley. She obviously had a blast and is now passed out laying on my leg. Oh, it's a rough life for my spoiled puppy! Harley will run up and try to say hi to almost anybody, but at the beach, her favorite people are surfers. I think she has a special affinity for them because Adam's a surfer. I swear, every time she runs up to one, she's looking at the guy like, "Is that you dad?!" Happy Birthday Dad! + Chickpea & Date Tagine
First thing's first... Happy Birthday to my wonderful dad!! I love you and can't wait to see you soon! :) Dinner Moving onto food, for tonight's dinner I tried a new recipe out from Vegetarian Times. Up until seeing this recipe, I had never heard of a tagine before. Assuming I'm not the only one, here's a quick explanation: A tagine is a North African (Moroccan to be exact) dish that is named after the type of pot it is cooked in - one that is formed entirely out of clay. It consists of two parts: a flat base unit, and a large conical, dome-shaped cover that rests inside the base ring during cooking, designed to promote the return of all condensation to the bottom: Kinda neat huh? Lemon Chickpea Couscous
I certainly got my feel-good workout endorphins going today! I took a break from work at lunchtime to do a walk/run interval sess around my neighborhood trail with Harley, and then this evening I boxed. I was a sweaty beast by the end of the class, and it felt great to get some hardcore exercise in. While my friend was in town I favored laying by the pool and drinking wine to working out and guzzling water like usual, so it was good to get back into my routine today (though it's fun to take a break from the typical regimen, especially when it involves time with a good friend!).
