Hi friends! First thing's first: the winner of my Fit Body Bakery giveaway is Danielle Priser. Congrats, Danielle! I've emailed you for your contact info. Let's dive into the topic of the day: recent workouts! You might know this by now, but I have total exercise ADHD. One month I do a ton of barre, hiking, and cycling, then the next month I'm all about boxing, Pilates and tennis. Sitting on the elliptical with a magazine every day is a horribly boring idea to me. I just love switching my workouts up and keeping things interesting! So what have my workouts been like lately? I've been doing a lot of yoga, HIIT sessions, and at-home kickboxing, with a few Pilates classes and hikes mixed in (really only because the last few months were too hot for hiking inland in SoCal). The ... [Read More]

Barre on the Bay + Nonstop Refreshing Eats {Weekend Recap}
Hi friends! How was your weekend? The two themes of my weekend were 1.) consuming all things cold and hydrating, and 2.) working out outdoors - followed by #1 again because exercising outside these days = lots of sweat! Refreshing eats. Sweat. Repeat. My top refreshing eats included the below pictured smoothie bowl, which I made because I was craving ice cream... ...and then later in the day when I still actually wanted ice cream, I got a cup of deliciousness from Sub Zero, an ice cream maker that creates your dessert right in front of you using liquid nitrogen: {Low-fat "Magnetic Mint" ice cream cup} Yum. Sometimes you just need the real thing! I also ate an obscene amount of watermelon, and came up with this smoothie concoction: {Creamy Mango Melon ... [Read More]
My Yoga Practice Lately: Poses I’ve Been Working On
Greetings from the northeast! My red eye arrived bright and early this morning. Between seeing my family, my hubby's family, my girlfriends, and my friend's wedding that I'm in next weekend, there is a lot of fun to be had on this trip. Today is also my hubby's birthday! I'm sure I'll be filling you guys in on all of the excitement going on here, but today I want to talk about my life lately when it comes to yoga. My yoga practice is always an interesting journey. Some months I slack off a bit on practicing as much, and then some months I really get into frequent and heart opening yoga sessions. July was a case of the latter. I went to a few yoga classes on the beach and at my favorite studio in my town, but mostly I practiced at home. Sometimes I get into following a ... [Read More]
My Current Favorite San Diego Studio Workouts {April 2015}
Hello, hello! Today we're talking about the local workouts that I've been loving! Recently I mentioned that I collaborated on a new project with ClassPass, which means that I've been a ClassPass workout crazy person. I think I'm sort of on a mission to try all of the awesome workouts that my health-conscious city of San Diego has to offer, and ClassPass is a great way to explore tons of studios in the area. Last week my friend Trish and I attended a ClassPass event at Core40 in Little Italy. You may recall me talking about Core40 in Solana Beach before because it's a total butt kicking workout, and this was the first time that I visited their downtown location. Since I live in the northern part of San Diego County, I haven't spent much time downtown lately. The class was ... [Read More]
Ways to Get Out of Your Fitness Comfort Zone
There's nothing that sounds more boring to me than doing the same things day in and day out without variation. I like to be adventurous with pretty much everything - from the meals I make and the fun activities I partake in, to the workouts I do and even the walking and hike routes I go on with my dog. I think, Walking the same exact path every single day? How blah! I find that switching things up keeps life interesting, and also sometimes scary and exciting. Don't let fear of the unknown freak you out.... Scary and exciting is a good thing! (source) I suppose I could talk a good amount about comfort zones in general. I'm a girl who landed a freelance journalist gig for a newspaper after randomly contacting the editor and telling him that I'd be a great writer for him... with no ... [Read More]
