Hi friends! Hope you all had a great weekend. I'm off from my PR job today for Columbus Day, so YAY for 3-day weekends! I'll be spending my extra day off doing blogging and health coaching work instead, running some errands, cleaning, going for a hike at our nearby favorite park, and taking my Batpuppy to the vet (just for an annual thing)... Backing it up to the beginning of the weekend, I kicked off my post-work Friday with a trip to the Del Mar dog beach on another 90 degree day: I love it at the dog beach, it's so beautiful and such a happy place! We hadn't been to the dog beach since the beginning of the summer because during peak beach months, dogs are only allowed on one section of the beach on their leashes. My dog is a maniac and doesn't like to be constrained by a leash on the ... [Read More]

Fruit Bowls, Bird Poop, Tennis, Oh My! Weekend Recap
Hi friends! You can probably tell from my post title that I'm lacking some wittiness at the moment, but I keep having such fun weekends, so I'm back again this Monday sharing a recap of my last few days. My weekend kicked off with my cousin Michelle coming into town to stay at my place on Friday night. First we went for a short yet sweaty evening hike with Harley.... ...and then went to a Mexican restaurant called Norte to grab some dinner. I ordered a plate with a veggie tostada, rice, beans and an avocado taco. It was my first time dining at Norte, and I would definitely go back sometime. I thought it had pretty good food and a nice outdoor dining area, plus it's right next to the beach in Carlsbad. Now that I've moved to the northern side of San Diego County, Michelle (who lives ... Weekend Shenanigans: Harley Wants a Dog Stroller
Hi there! If you haven't yet, don't forget to enter my Bondi Band sporty headband giveaway. It ends tomorrow and doesn't have a high amount of entries, so chances of you winning are good! Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. My weekend was great! Let's delve into a recap of it: I kicked off my weekend with a hike with Harley at a nearby spot called Lake Calavera Hills Preserve. It's a pretty area, and one pretty unique aspect of it is the 22 million-year-old volcanic plug that's located there: The first time I went hiking here, we saw a rattlesnake. This time, towards the beginning of my hike, a man warned me that he had seen a couple of snakes there that day. Since Harley loves to stick her face in bushes and zigzag around exploring, I felt somewhat paranoid of her ... [Read More]
Unwinding
First off, Happy Veterans Day to all of the men & women who have served our country and made so many sacrifices to protect us! The USMC birthday was also yesterday, marking 238 years of its existence. It's kind of funny to think of my hubby as a veteran, since he only got out of active duty as a Marine earlier this year. You know what they say though: Once a Marine, always a Marine! Mother Teresa once said, "To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it." To me, this encompasses all of the things we need to/should do in order to keep our bodies healthy, our minds clear, our stress levels at bay and our relationships with both others and ourselves strong. Sometimes taking time just to unwind -- whether it be 10 minutes of meditation or two weeks of vacation -- ... [Read More]
Weekend Awesomeness
Yup, another weekend has sped on by. Besides doing a couple of hours of freelance writing work, my weekend was obligation-free and fabulous. Here are some snapshots of the bits of awesomeness that made up my Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Caramel apples make my dog very attentive: On Saturday evening, my hubby and I had a mountain biking date at our favorite spot around here. The views are gorgeous, there are lots of animals around, and because it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, the park is never in the least bit crowded. Adam took a few shots of me riding... which I wasn't even aware of because he's always like a mile ahead of me. Damn his strong legs! As you can kind of tell, there's a steep drop if you steer off the path, and the path is not all that wide. I'm ... [Read More]
