Happy Halloween! If you trick-or-treat at my house tonight, you'll be greeted by a barking Batpuppy: I celebrated Halloween yesterday by carving pumpkins and watching scary movies with my hubby, and making jack-o-lantern stuffed peppers for dinner. Are you celebrating the holiday with some treats? If you're looking for a way to offset those extra candy calories today, try this at-home Halloween workout: And speaking of workouts, today I'm sharing what I've been up to lately on the fitness front! I had a bit of an injury scare about a week and a half ago, when I spent a few days thinking that I might have broken my middle toe after tripping at my door when walking inside from my backyard. Total klutz move! I was totally sober, but I was going to open wine, so I may have ... [Read More]

Meet Me at the Barre: Comparing San Diego Studio Barre Methods
Barre workouts are all the rage these days, and it's no secret why: This type of workout focuses on flexibility and graceful dance moves as a means of toning and lengthening the muscles, in hopes of achieving those beautiful dancer-like curves. There's no shortage of barre style studios in the San Diego area, but what's the difference between the various barre methods and what type of exerciser does each best suit? These are the questions I was asking myself a couple of months ago when I decided to commit myself to really trying out barre. Sure, I had done barre classes before here and there, but I was on a mission to really experience three different methods within the barre community: Bar Method, The Dailey Method and Xtend Barre. Today I'm sharing my thoughts on each style of ... [Read More]
My Workouts Lately: Xtend Barre Encinitas, Hiking Iron Mountain & The Fit Mill {Muscle Tweaks Can’t Hold Me Down!}
Hey friends! How was your weekend? Mine was wonderful and included lots of fun with my little family! Check out Harley licking her lips at the sangria carafes I brought to a friend's on the 4th of July: I can't blame her, sangria is one of my favorite summer drinks! Today I thought it'd be fun to talk about my workouts as of late. As usual I've been super active, but lately I've had a few not so fun muscular tweaks happening. I'm thankful to be strong and healthy, but does anyone else ever feel like their body is just out of whack and giving out on them in an aches and pains kind of way?! The first tweak was a couple of weeks ago when I hurt my neck doing a Jillian Michaels' DVD that I've done a million times. It felt like a nerve pinched in my neck down through my shoulder ... My Current Favorite San Diego Studio Workouts {April 2015}
Hello, hello! Today we're talking about the local workouts that I've been loving! Recently I mentioned that I collaborated on a new project with ClassPass, which means that I've been a ClassPass workout crazy person. I think I'm sort of on a mission to try all of the awesome workouts that my health-conscious city of San Diego has to offer, and ClassPass is a great way to explore tons of studios in the area. Last week my friend Trish and I attended a ClassPass event at Core40 in Little Italy. You may recall me talking about Core40 in Solana Beach before because it's a total butt kicking workout, and this was the first time that I visited their downtown location. Since I live in the northern part of San Diego County, I haven't spent much time downtown lately. The class was ... [Read More]
