Heading to Myrtle Beach? Check out my recommendations for a dozen places to see, restaurants to eat at, and things to do while vacationing at the popular South Carolina destination. Last winter, my husband and I were feeling cooped up at home. We're not big fans of winters in the northeast (hello seasonal affective disorder!) and the pandemic seriously limited things we could do indoors - not to mention that COVID-19 has made us uncomfortable with the idea of an outside babysitter, which equates to an absence of date nights. So, we planned a few trips to lift our spirits and give us things to look forward to. First, we went on a road trip to Lake George, NY, and a few weeks later, we road tripped it much further to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Road tripping 12 hours each ... [Read More]

10 Winter Activities To Enjoy in the Lake George, NY Area
Looking to go on a winter trip to upstate New York? Check out these 10 fun activities to do on a Lake George getaway! When I moved to New England a few years ago, I knew I wanted to go on some road trips to experience states and regions that I haven't spent time in yet. While the pandemic has put a damper on my area travel aspirations, I've still managed to visit many places - from rural states like Vermont and Maine, to cities like Boston and the Big Apple. The latest getaway I went on with my family was to upstate New York's Adirondack region, to Lake George and its surrounding towns. Hours from the hustle and bustle of New York City, Lake George is a popular getaway for residents of neighboring states. From my home in western Connecticut, it was a bit over a three hour road ... A New England Autumn Road Trip to Bethel, Maine
Autumn in New England is lovely! The vibrant colored trees make everything look gorgeous & the temperatures are mild and comfortable - making it a great time to soak up the outdoors & get time in nature before winter hits and the temperatures drop. What better time for a New England road trip? When I moved to Connecticut two years ago, I created a list of places I wanted to travel to in New England, including Vermont, Rhode Island, Boston, Nantucket and Maine. I've visited the former four, and decided that October would be a nice time to venture out on a road trip up to Maine. Sitting pretty as the most northeastern state in America, Maine is known for its natural beauty. For this trip, I envisioned hiking, soaking up small town country life, and getting some relaxation ... [Read More]
Snapshots of Summer Vacationing in the Northeast
How has your summer been going? Summertime has definitely looked different this year amidst the pandemic, but that hasn't stopped us from having fun family relaxation & local summer vacation time around the northeastern U.S. The NY/NJ/CT area largely took the pandemic seriously at the beginning since we were hit hardest first in the country, and everyone was on lockdown at home for several months. Fortunately, this has paid off with us being able to flatten the curve (fingers crossed it stays this way). As restrictions have lifted and case numbers have looked better, over the past month and a half, we've been comfortable enough to start seeing some family and go on a few road trips. Today I thought it'd be fun to commemorate our first summer as a family of three and share ... [Read More]
Highlights from Our First Vacation As a Family of 3 {San Diego, CA}
Anyone that knows me knows that traveling is a passion of mine. Exploring new places - whether a getaway that's a 2 hour drive away or a big trip that's a 15 hour plane ride away - always has a way of reinvigorating me and making me feel more alive. In becoming a mother, I've felt this strong sense to keep doing the things that I enjoy - many of the things that make me, me. With baby in tow, we started off going on weekend road trips to visit family soon after she was born. In fact, we took Camryn on her first little road trip to my parents' beach house when she was just a few weeks old. Our little lady has become a decent road tripper, so we felt it was time to go bigger... Cam's first plane ride! A few weeks ago, we went on our first family of 3 vacation to San Diego. My ... My 2020 Travel Plans & Aspirations
Happy New Year! Anyone else have some serious wanderlust going on? In 2019, having just made a cross-country move and both my husband and me changing careers, along with having bought a house, and the biggest factors, being pregnant and having a baby, we were pretty preoccupied with everyday life and didn't manage to get in a ton of travel. While our vacation to Turks & Caicos and road trip to Vermont were our travel highlights, typically we like to do a lot more exploring. So, here we are in the beginning of 2020, and I'm finding myself itching to change up my scenery, to experience new beautiful places. I've got a ton of airline miles to use, and I really want to start traveling with my daughter while she's young - got to take advantage of her two free lap seat ... [Read More]
