A couple of weeks ago, my hubby and I celebrated our 8th anniversary. I feel like so much has happened & we've grown up so much in these years, yet the years sure seem to fly by being married to your best friend! To commemorate the occasion, we went camping for the weekend in the Julian area - a SoCal inland town a couple of hours away that's known for its apple pies. It serves as a countryside escape for San Diego city dwellers, and we usually visit once or twice a year. Our initial plan was to go apple picking, but unfortunately all of the orchards had already closed for the season or were in their last weekend. Plan B was to go wine tasting instead. We visited Volcan Mountain Winery first, which had decent red blends and a muscat that we left with a bottle of. After ... [Read More]

Life Lately: A Wedding Extravaganza East Coast Trip
Hi there! Long time no talk. I have been crazy busy lately! An anniversary, 2 weddings, a bachelorette party & visiting family on the east coast have all taken place... and today I thought I'd back it up a few weeks to share with you guys just what I've been up to! At the beginning of the month, my hubby and I celebrated 7 years of marriage! I was traveling to the east coast two days later, so we elected to celebrate lucky #7 locally. First up, we went to a San Diego Chargers game. They played the Saints and the game was so much fun....until the Chargers totally blew their 13-point lead in the last 4 minutes and lost the game. Whomp whomp. Let's just say that there were many die-hard fans that were not too pleased after the game. Even we were bummed out about it, and we ... [Read More]

Foodie Loves Fitness Turns TWO!
Hello, hello! First thing's first: Using a random number generator... Jordan Lynn at Life Between Lattes is the winner of my giveaway for Chef Del's Better Than Vegan cookbook! I'll be emailing you for your address shortly. :) In other fun news, Foodie Loves Fitness turned two today! It's amazing to think about all that has happened in my life since this blog started. When I began the blog, my hubby had just deployed and I thought it was a good time to start a cool project. I loved food, cooking, and staying active, and had been reading health blogs for awhile. I didn't know what the hell I was doing (which is very evident if you read my posts at the beginning!), but I am so happy that I went for it and delved into this big yet somehow small world of healthy living ... My Blogging Anniversary
Yesterday was my blog's 1st birthday! I remember writing my first blog post and wondering what type of blog my site would turn into. Would I be someone who posted all of their eats on a daily basis? Would I only post recipes? Was it okay if I also threw some random topics of interest into the mix? This was something I thought about a lot over the course of the year, but not too much into it I came to the same conclusion about my blog as I have for life in general: there are no rules! There's no ''right" or ''wrong" way to go about blogging, just as there aren't set guidelines to how you need to live your life. You just have to follow your heart and do things your own way - to me, this is the way that you'll be most happy. With that, I decided that I'd write about what I wanted ... [Read More]
Celebrating Three Years
Yesterday Adam and I celebrated our third anniversary. We had a low-key night together - I made us homemade minestrone soup, we went to the dog beach with Harley at sunset, and then played cards & enjoyed some yummy red zinfandel at home. A few sights from the beach: Thus far our marriage has been full of adventure and travel. The day after we got hitched, Adam and I moved from the Northeast to Florida for a few months while he finished schooling for his job in the Marine Corps... After that, we embarked on a journey moving to the West coast. We had an amazing time road tripping 2,500+ miles, and got to see some awesome sights across the country. Here are a few of my favorite memories from that trip: We've been separated quite a bit in these past three years. ... [Read More]
