Affordable Holiday Gift Ideas for the Healthy Living Foodie in Your Life

Looking for great, affordable holiday gift ideas for the healthy living foodie in your life? I’ve got you covered with this rundown of some of my favorite products of 2023 – from chocolate and glassware to a yoga towel mat and smart water bottle! 

The holiday season is upon us! This is one of my favorite times of year and I’m soaking up the Christmas magic with my family.

With Thanksgiving behind us and the month of December starting in just a few days, it’s time to think about holiday gift ideas for the loved ones that you did not yet nab a gift for. If you haven’t finished holiday shopping yet (I know I haven’t!), today I’m sharing some fun, affordable holiday gift ideas for the healthy lifestyle loving foodie in your life.

This list features some of my favorite products that I’ve been using in 2023 – a few of which I’ve been using for a bunch of years – all of which are $75 or less. I hope that it includes the perfect something for the healthy foodie on your gift list!

Affordable Holiday Gift Ideas for the Healthy Foodie in Your Life

Seattle Chocolate

For the chocolate lover in your life, Seattle Chocolate is the perfect little something to finish off your gift box or bag, or as a stocking stuffer. With truffle bar offerings that include Candy Cane Crunch, Peanut Butter Crisp, and Spiced Hot Chocolate (their seasonal truffle trio bars are currently retailing at $18.99), a variety of truffle bags (my favorite of which is their mint; currently $13.99), and adorable gift boxes, they’re chocolate heaven. Everything I’ve tried is delicious!

In fact, for Thanksgiving I made a chocolate board with a variety of their flavors and it was so fun.

Seattle Chocolate’s branding is eye-catching, further making their bars a nice gift. Plus, this woman-owned company is committed to giving back and feeding hungry families. They’re a chocolate company you can feel good about supporting.

Aurorae Yoga Mat Towel

For the yogi in your life, check out Aurorae’s Synergy Hot Yoga Mat. It’s my absolute favorite yoga mat! In fact, I included Aurorae in a gift guide a bunch of years ago… and I still use mine on the daily. It’s a towel and mat rolled in one, so I don’t constantly slip while doing yoga, Pilates or core work.

Water H Smart Water Bottle

A unique product in my gift guide is the Water H Smart Water Bottle. We all know that staying hydrated is so important, and Water H helps users easily track water intake. Equipped with an app that tracks your daily intake, reminds you to drink, and offers tidbits such as the volume of your water bottle and water quality level, it’s the perfect cool tech gift for the health buff in your life.

Runamok Maple Syrup

With unique flavors like salted caramel, banana rum, and royal cinnamon infused maple syrups, Runamok is an awesome high-quality syrup brand that’s family-owned and based in Vermont.

I also can’t forget to mention their cool sparkle syrup! They also recently expanded in the world of honeys, and they have some great gift boxes starting at $31.95 for the foodie in your life. I just nabbed one for a family member who also loves the brand.

Modestine Stress Relief Tea

I’m a big tea lover and believe in the power of a hot cup of tea in aiding in optimal health and wellness, so it’s no surprise that tea made it into my gift guide. Modestine is a brand focused on supporting women in their wellness journey through organic teas. Their Don’t Stress Me tea is a great blend of green rooibos, lemongrass, lemon myrtle, eucalyptus, and tulsi, meant to provide daily stress relief (retailing at $17.50).

Sip to reduce anxiety and maintain a healthy immune system; and to enjoy relief from colds, coughs and flu-like symptoms – something we all need during wintertime!

Biossance Skincare

One important and sometimes overlooked component to a healthy lifestyle is taking care of our skin – especially as we age. One of my favorite skincare brands is Biossance. My go-to products in Biossance’s award-winning clean skincare line are their Squalane & Vitamin C Rose Oil ($74 regularly priced) and Squalane + Omega Repair Cream ($60). I use both products every night!

I also want to mention that their products last a long time. I recently ran out of the rose oil bottle that I bought over the holidays last year!

Scoozee Glass Set

Like many healthy lifestyle buffs, I’m a big smoothie drinker. And drinking out of nice glassware is a small daily pleasure! This affordable Scoozee glass set comes with four glasses made out of borosilicate glass that are perfect for iced coffee, smoothies, kombucha, etc., along with bamboo lids, glass straws, two straw cleaners and two coasters (currently on Amazon for $18!).

Bellissima Sparkling Wine

If the fit foodie in your life is a sparkling wine fan, check out Bellissima. Their wines are 100% organic, certified vegan, and they also have zero sugar options. I particularly like their DOC Brut and Zero Sugar Sparkling White Wine. Bellissima also supports some wonderful causes, including a tree planting initiative and animal rescue organization.

Three bottles of Bellissima Prosecco is currently retailing for $74. What better way to celebrate the holidays than with some champs!

Upton Tea Imports Wellness Set 

Another tea brand I’ve been sipping on lately is Upton Tea Imports. The premium loose leaf tea brand offers a Wellness Tea Set that includes Apple Mint Valerian to aid in sleep and peppermint tea to improve digestion.

    Wow – that water bottle is unique for sure! And we are HUGE fans of Runamok here. In fact, we gave their syrup to family members for Christmas on a number of occasions. You always find the most unique Christmas gift ideas – thanks so much for sharing!! Also, chocolate board. Yes, please.

La Jolla is an ever popular area, but for good reason… It’s one of the most beautiful areas in San Diego ☀️ & my favorite time of year to visit is NOW when it’s Harbor Seals Pupping Season! 🦭

📍Casa Beach is closed off from humans from mid-December through mid-May for birthing & bonding, and most of the seal pups are born in February & March. They are so much fun to watch!

Last weekend we got to ride on the world’s largest rotating aerial tram car, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway 🌴⛰️ Guests travel 6,000 feet up in just 10 minutes! 

Once we reached the top, we hiked a couple miles of trails in Mount San Jacinto State Park - where it was only 37 degrees and windy, brr! - and took in the beautiful views. 

Here are a few tips for optimizing a Palm Springs Aerial Tramway adventure: 

✨Show up early. We didn’t realize how big of a production this excursion would be, and when we arrived at 11 am, the wait time was 2 hours to ride the tramway. If I could do it over, I would show up at opening time. 

✨Bring breakfast. While they do have food options while you wait for your tram ride, it’s stereotypical not very healthy American food. Pick up food at a local cafe and bring it with you to enjoy outside. We love @palmgreenscafe!

✨ Bring extra clothes. The temperature at 8,500 ft elevation varies from 20-40 degrees colder, so make sure to pack a jacket, sweatshirt, hat, even gloves.

Who else is pumped for the Olympics to start?! 🇺🇸

This curling competition experiment is a hit with my kiddo! Here’s how to make it: 

You’ll need: 
✨A rimmed baking sheet
✨Aluminum foil 
✨Permanent markers (we used black + red) 
✨A variety of pebbles 
✨Optional: buttons, craft pom-poms and other objects to experiment playing with 

1️⃣ Spread foil across your baking sheet. Draw the starting line on 1 side and a small circle inside a large circle on the other side. 

2️⃣ Place your “rink” in the freezer, then fill it with water halfway up the sides. Chill until it’s totally frozen. 

3️⃣ Time to play! Each player picks 3 pebbles. Take turns using a finger to push your pebble towards the target. 

🥌 Pebbles that land in the inner circle = 3 points each 
🥌 Pebbles that land in the outer circle = 1 point each
🥌 3 rounds = 1 game 

❗️Players can hit other pebbles & knock them out of the circles, which is fun! 

❗️Once all players use their pebbles, that’s the end of round 1. Tally the scores as you go!

Welcome to my new series, Easy Plant-Based Meals, where I share simple, nutritious meals that I make for my family on the regular. 🥦🥕🥬🧅🧄🫘🫑
 
Today I’m making Garlic Pearled Couscous with Roasted Chickpeas & Veggies. 

Here are the ingredients you need to serve 4: 

1️⃣ 2-3 boxes of Near East Pearled Couscous with Roasted Garlic & Olive Oil (I find that 3 boxes yield about 4.5 cups; you can also use a plain pearled couscous)
2️⃣ 1 can garbanzo beans 
3️⃣ 4 TSP avocado oil 
4️⃣ 1 zucchini 
5️⃣ 1 bell pepper
6️⃣ 2T-1/4 cup pine nuts, optional but I like the added heart-healthy crunch
7️⃣ Salt, pepper & paprika to taste 

Directions:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 375. Drain & rinse chickpeas, then add to a baking dish. Add 2 TSP of avocado oil, and a nice sprinkle of salt, pepper, and paprika to taste. Mix it up, then cook for 25 minutes, stirring halfway through. 

2️⃣ Cook the couscous according to the box directions. 

3️⃣ Heat 2 tsp avocado oil in a sauté pan over medium-low heat. Chop the zucchini and bell pepper, add a sprinkle of salt & pepper, then cook until tender. 

4️⃣ Lightly toast the pine nuts. 

5️⃣ Plate the couscous, add the roasted chickpeas & veggies on top, & sprinkles pine nuts onto each plate. Enjoy!

🌎 The largest National Park in the contiguous U.S. - 3.4 million acres! - did not disappoint 🔥 Here’s what we had on our agenda for Day 2️⃣ of exploring Death Valley National Park: 

📍Explore the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
🛷Go sledding down the dunes! 
🥾Hike Mosaic Canyon Trail ~ a 3.5-mile out & back trail with 974 ft elevation gain. This trail was so much fun & the rock formations are gorgeous! My daughter loved climbing & bouldering around. It features some cool slot canyons and difficult rock scrambling - our kinda speed! 
🚰 Refuel at Stovepipe Wells Village ~ Nearby pitstop within the park for gas, restrooms, a general store & restaurants
