Ending a Fabulous Day with Outdoor Vino’s Rambling Red [Wine Review]

Saturday was a close to perfect day for me, full of some of my favorite things – including yoga, good food, the beach & wine.

Outdoor Vino Rambling Red Wine-4

More specifically, my morning began with a live music rock ‘n roll yoga class at Black Sheep Yoga. While it wasn’t a gentle practice and some parts really challenged my sore muscles, it was just what my body needed after doing high intensity workouts all week. Got to love kicking off the weekend with some invigorating yoga!

FitSnap-Yoga class

Next up, my friend Tiffany, who had joined me in class, also joined me for a trip to a nearby farmers’ market. We strolled around, tasted some fruit, and picked up some local produce and other eats (raw sage honey!) to take home.

Afterwards, I headed back home to take my dog for a walk and shower. My hubby got home from what he was doing around then, and we settled in the living room to watch golf and nap. I don’t nap often, but every now and then, it’s exactly what my body needs. It was glorious!

My favorite nearby hiking & walking spot

My favorite nearby hiking & walking spot

When I woke up from my siesta, I spent some time in the kitchen. I loosely followed this recipe for chocolate chip cookies (Thanks, Sarah!), and created and photographed a granola recipe (to come on the blog soon!).

blueberry almond granola

Since two things that my day was missing were 1.) more time out in nature, and 2.) wine, my hubby and I packed a picnic and headed to the beach for a sunset dinner & wine drinking date.

Outdoor Vino Rambling Red-1

Recently Naked Winery sent me a few bottles of their Outdoor Vino Rambling Red to try. What makes their Outdoor Vino brand unique is that the wine is bottled in BPA-free, recyclable plastic that weighs 1/6 of the weight of glass – making it perfect to bring along when you’re on an outdoor adventure. Since I love to be outdoors and I love drinking wine, I knew that Outdoor Vino wine was a great match for me!

I brought a (super light) bottle of their Rambling Red along with me to the beach on Saturday evening. I tucked the bottle in its respective spot in my picnic backpack, and loved not having to worry about busting out my corkscrew since the bottle comes with an easy screw top. We drank the red blend out of the plastic wine glasses that my backpack came with while we enjoyed the beach and watched the sunset.

Outdoor Vino Rambling Red-2

Rambling Red is a blend of cabernet, merlot and syrah, and I found it to be a smooth, dry wine. I paired the wine with caprese sandwiches, strawberries, marinated artichokes, bean & corn salad, bruschetta, and some of the cookies that I made earlier in the day:

Beach Picnic Food

I love Oregon-based Naked Winery’s fun outdoorsy approach to wine drinking. With winery slogans of, We aim to Tease!  and The World’s Sexiest Winery, and their wine club brochure asking if you’re “more of a sweet thing or cougar,” I also got a kick out of their provocative messaging. I suppose it’s what you can only expect from a place called Naked Winery, and after all, wine should be all about fun right?

Outdoor Vino Rambling Red-3

I also really like that Outdoor Vino wines are environmentally friendly. The plastic bottles use 1/3 of the water to produce than regular glass bottles. Their Rambling Red is an easy drinking varietal blend that’s listed for $18 on their website, and I even saw it for a few bucks cheaper elsewhere online.

I think that their Rambling Red is a fun bottle to bring when you go hiking, picnicking, camping, golfing, are hanging out poolside, or whatever else your outdoorsy self enjoys… and it was a great way to end my close to perfect Saturday full of fun, relaxation, and some of my favorite things!

Hand to Toe Extension at Sunset

Sometimes wine drinking + yoga makes for a good combo!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received Outdoor Vino’s Rambling Red for free from Naked Winery as coordinated by Outdoor PR in consideration for review. As always, all opinions expressed as genuinely my own.

Tell me…

Wine drinkers, do you enjoy your wine outside often?

What would your perfect day include?

Spread the love

Um YES! Yoga, beach, wine and good food would definitely be my perfect day. Love every second of it! I love that yoga photo of you! 🙂

I have started napping a lot more now that my little guy likes to wake me up in the middle of the night. It is necessary!

      Thanks lady!

I hear you, I probably would be napping more if I had a little one too. Sometimes you just have to sleep whenever they’re sleeping, right? I’m sure your mom has been helping you lots with your little guy, which must be great!

I LOVE that last shot. So beautiful!

Your whole weekend looks like utter perfection. A picnic on the beach with wine is about as good as it gets for me. Naked Winery was very clever to come up with the idea for an outdoor that’s lightweight and BPA-free. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it!

Oh, and those cookies are my all-time favorite! 🙂

Sarah, I have to tell you, I put half of the batch of cookies in the freezer so that I wouldn’t keep eating them…. turns out, they’re great right out of the freezer too! Haha. Both A and I keep munching on them right from the freezer!

That yoga class sounds so fun! And really what a perfect weekend! I love the idea of a picnic on the beach – we don’t have beaches close to us but I need to do it anyway! Just not for the beach obviously 🙂 haha Hope you’re having a great week so far!

My perfect day would most definitely consist of being outside doing yoga and sipping on some wine while watching the sunset either on the beach or around the firepit with my favorite people. The wine I am most recently obsessed with is “new age” the is only three flavors to my knowledge and they all need to be chilled since they have a bit of carbonation in them. Love all the yoga photos it really inspires me to get some yoga in, been working up to doing the fallen angel, not quite there yet.

Thanks, Celena Rae! Fallen Angel feels a bit weird to get into. Sometimes if I’m trying to work up to a certain yoga pose, I’ll watch a few tutorials of it to see the different ways that people get into it and what they’re doing that I’m not. Sometimes the tutorials give really good visualization and explanations that help me get into the pose – you should try it!

I’m so late on this, but this is the perfect day! I love wine and drinking it outside, so this plastic bottle looks perfect. It’s so amazing that you live close enough to the beach to enjoy a sunset picnic. We’re now by the beach too, so I hope to be doing some of that asap. Are Naked wines only sold on the west coast, or can I find them here too?
My perfect day is something like yours – get an early start, do a great workout, hit the farmers market, and enjoy the evening with wine and friends.

A neighbor brought over a bottle of the Outdoor Vino for a tasting during at a dinner party. We agreed the idea is great but the execution is lackluster. For the price I would expect a much better wine in the bottle. I actually prefere 3 buck Chuck over this single note blend. However, the lightweight bottle is such a good idea that I recommend reusing the bottle by filing it with your favorite wine.

La Jolla is an ever popular area, but for good reason… It’s one of the most beautiful areas in San Diego ☀️ & my favorite time of year to visit is NOW when it’s Harbor Seals Pupping Season! 🦭

📍Casa Beach is closed off from humans from mid-December through mid-May for birthing & bonding, and most of the seal pups are born in February & March. They are so much fun to watch!

Last weekend we got to ride on the world’s largest rotating aerial tram car, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway 🌴⛰️ Guests travel 6,000 feet up in just 10 minutes!

Once we reached the top, we hiked a couple miles of trails in Mount San Jacinto State Park - where it was only 37 degrees and windy, brr! - and took in the beautiful views.

Here are a few tips for optimizing a Palm Springs Aerial Tramway adventure:

✨Show up early. We didn’t realize how big of a production this excursion would be, and when we arrived at 11 am, the wait time was 2 hours to ride the tramway. If I could do it over, I would show up at opening time.

✨Bring breakfast. While they do have food options while you wait for your tram ride, it’s stereotypical not very healthy American food. Pick up food at a local cafe and bring it with you to enjoy outside. We love @palmgreenscafe!

✨ Bring extra clothes. The temperature at 8,500 ft elevation varies from 20-40 degrees colder, so make sure to pack a jacket, sweatshirt, hat, even gloves.

Who else is pumped for the Olympics to start?! 🇺🇸

This curling competition experiment is a hit with my kiddo! Here’s how to make it:

You’ll need:
✨A rimmed baking sheet
✨Aluminum foil
✨Permanent markers (we used black + red)
✨A variety of pebbles
✨Optional: buttons, craft pom-poms and other objects to experiment playing with

1️⃣ Spread foil across your baking sheet. Draw the starting line on 1 side and a small circle inside a large circle on the other side.

2️⃣ Place your “rink” in the freezer, then fill it with water halfway up the sides. Chill until it’s totally frozen.

3️⃣ Time to play! Each player picks 3 pebbles. Take turns using a finger to push your pebble towards the target.

🥌 Pebbles that land in the inner circle = 3 points each
🥌 Pebbles that land in the outer circle = 1 point each
🥌 3 rounds = 1 game

❗️Players can hit other pebbles & knock them out of the circles, which is fun!

❗️Once all players use their pebbles, that’s the end of round 1. Tally the scores as you go!

✨Idea from @kiwico_inc’s Winter Wonders experiment book

Welcome to my new series, Easy Plant-Based Meals, where I share simple, nutritious meals that I make for my family on the regular. 🥦🥕🥬🧅🧄🫘🫑

Today I’m making Garlic Pearled Couscous with Roasted Chickpeas & Veggies.

Here are the ingredients you need to serve 4:

1️⃣ 2-3 boxes of Near East Pearled Couscous with Roasted Garlic & Olive Oil (I find that 3 boxes yield about 4.5 cups; you can also use a plain pearled couscous)
2️⃣ 1 can garbanzo beans
3️⃣ 4 TSP avocado oil
4️⃣ 1 zucchini
5️⃣ 1 bell pepper
6️⃣ 2T-1/4 cup pine nuts, optional but I like the added heart-healthy crunch
7️⃣ Salt, pepper & paprika to taste

Directions:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 375. Drain & rinse chickpeas, then add to a baking dish. Add 2 TSP of avocado oil, and a nice sprinkle of salt, pepper, and paprika to taste. Mix it up, then cook for 25 minutes, stirring halfway through.

2️⃣ Cook the couscous according to the box directions.

3️⃣ Heat 2 tsp avocado oil in a sauté pan over medium-low heat. Chop the zucchini and bell pepper, add a sprinkle of salt & pepper, then cook until tender.

4️⃣ Lightly toast the pine nuts.

5️⃣ Plate the couscous, add the roasted chickpeas & veggies on top, & sprinkles pine nuts onto each plate. Enjoy!

🌎 The largest National Park in the contiguous U.S. - 3.4 million acres! - did not disappoint 🔥 Here’s what we had on our agenda for Day 2️⃣ of exploring Death Valley National Park:

📍Explore the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
🛷Go sledding down the dunes!
🥾Hike Mosaic Canyon Trail ~ a 3.5-mile out & back trail with 974 ft elevation gain. This trail was so much fun & the rock formations are gorgeous! My daughter loved climbing & bouldering around. It features some cool slot canyons and difficult rock scrambling - our kinda speed!
