Over the last couple of months, I've made some upgrades to this lovely little corner of the internet of mine, and one of those changes has been updating all of my recipe, travel, and workout pages. Before, everything was in a boring list format, but luckily, I found a plugin to help me organize everything in a more visually appealing way. The problem was, I didn't quite get the hang of categorizing posts until a few years into blogging, and even then I couldn't predict that I'd be indexing things this way later on, so I pretty much had to manually organize a lot of it. It was a tedious process, but luckily it's now completely done! Now my posts are broken down into more specific categories, every relevant post is shown with a fun little thumbnail, and it's easier to browse posts to ... [Read More]

Workout Gear Review: Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless Bluetooth Headphones
Hi friends! Can you guys believe that we're halfway through August? I actually can because I'm currently in Jersey with my family, where it's been sweltering out as only August can be! Last weekend I was in Philly, and at 97 degrees and crazy humidity, it was just too hot to walk around much. It felt like a sauna every time I stepped outside! The place to be in this heat is definitely on the water, and fortunately I've gotten the chance to be out on both my parents' and my father-in-law's boats this trip. It's sweet relief to feel the breeze in your hair when it's so humid + hot out! Product Review: Polar FT40 Heart Rate Watch
A few months ago, I reviewed a heart rate monitor from Sportline that I wasn't too happy with. After writing that post and knowing that I needed a better watch to work out with, I reached out to my fellow Girls Gone Sporty ambassadors to see what their picks were. If you're curious as to how wearing a heart rate monitor during exercise can benefit you, check out an article I just wrote on FitKit on this subject here. I've been reluctant to try a sport watch with a chest strap, for the simple fact that I was convinced it would annoy me. I guess I'm weird in that I hate things bothering me during workouts. For instance, my iPhone armband ... [Read More]
My Favorite Healthy Living Tools of 2012
As I was walking Harley on my neighborhood trail and practicing yoga yesterday, I thought about the factors that play into my healthy lifestyle. There's my crazy dog, who forces me to walk with her a few miles a day whether I'm in the mood to or not. Dogs are great healthy living tools! And then there are those innate things - my desire to feed my body with foods that fuel it well and the motivation that drives me to exercise on a daily basis. There are also material things that better enable me to live healthily, things I rely on every day. As 2012 is drawing to a close in just a few weeks, I thought I'd do a post on my favorite healthy living tools of the year. Here goes! 1.) My Brooks Sneakers - I think we can all agree that good sneakers make a big difference when it comes to ... [Read More]
