Hello and Happy Monday! Hope that you all had a great weekend. Let's dive right into my weekend highlights! Workouts After another awesome workout at Fitwall on Friday, I knew that strength training would need to be kept to a minimum over the weekend so that I could let my sore body recover. On Saturday morning, my little family and I headed to Elfin Forest to hit the trails. ... [Read More]

Wine Labeling & What I Ate Wednesday
Hi friends! I'm blogging as I watch the ESPY Awards, feeling really inspired by all of the amazing athletes in this country and excited for football season to start pretty soon. I just watched sports journalist Robin Roberts receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, and what an amazing woman she is! Today I'm doing a What I Ate Wednesday post since I have not shared my daily eats in a couple of weeks, but first I wanted to share a few pictures from the project that my hubby and I worked on last night: creating wine labels for our homemade merlot that we bottled a few weeks ago, and getting them on the bottles (mostly!) straight: We're calling our wines "Daniella Cellars" after my middle name, Danielle. The emblem on the top of the label is a crane after our last name (which is...Crane), ... [Read More]
Today’s Eats: Keepin’ it Simple
Some days my eats are awesome meals & snacks that I put an artistic flair into. Other days, the food I eat is not quite as exciting. It may be because I was just too busy to spend time or energy getting creative, or perhaps I just wasn't in the mood to be. Today is a good example of a pretty boring yet healthy day of eats: My breakfast was a bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal with sliced banana + almond milk: For lunch I reheated some leftover veggie chili. I crunched up some multigrain crackers with sea salt from Crunchmasters on top. It was a little snack bag I got in my KLUTCHclub box shipment. The verdict? Light, yummy, and the mini bag was the perfect amount for adding some crunchiness to my soup. Late in the afternoon, I took Harley for a hike. After experiencing ... [Read More]
Chickpea & Brown Rice Salad
Hi there! I spent a couple of hours this evening volunteering at the Humane Society, and got to play with some pretty adorable dogs. Getting good pictures of puppies is a nearly impossible task: Such sweet little puppies! Moving onto food, today I'm sharing all of my eats for the day: My breakfast today was packed with a ton of vitamins and nutrients: I'm keeping up with my green juice a day! A few hours later when my stomach was growling, I threw together this salad: In the Mix: Radicchio lettuce mix A serving of Gardein mandarin orange crispy chick'n 1/4 cup dried cranberries 1 TSP sesame seeds 1/2 TBSP sesame oil 1/2 TBSP rice vinegar Adam and I went mountain biking late this afternoon. Post-workout, I whipped up this dinner really quick: Lately I've been putting ... [Read More]
One Sweaty Sunday + My Pasta Primavera Formula
Well, another weekend is coming to a close. As always, the past few days have gone by quickly! Lately it's been warmer than usual in San Diego. 90 degrees and hotter is typical for a lot of places in the summer, but it feels pretty toasty here since I'm used to it constantly being my ideal temp - 75! I started off my Sunday sweating outdoors when I took Harley for a long walk to burn off some of her crazy puppy energy. She's been really feeling the heat and tuckering out quickly, and by the end of our walk around the neighborhood trail, her tongue was out and she was ready to relax in the AC. When we got home, I wanted to exercise and I did 2 workouts from Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred DVD. Her routines are no joke! About half an hour into it, Adam walked into the house and said, ... In Heaven at NJ’s Veggie Heaven
....and in hell in this NJ heat! Okay, perhaps that's a little bit melodramatic, but seriously, 100 degrees with awful humidity? Not my cup of tea. I've always gotten overheated easily, and living in San Diego has made me very SPOILED! Basically I'm melting right now, but moving on to my heavenly dinner last night... In college, I became hooked on Veggie Heaven, an all-vegetarian Asian restaurant with a few locations. When I first saw it, I thought it didn't look like anything special on the outside. I actually was reluctant to try it at all. What a perfect example this is of not judging a book by its cover, because this spot is awesome. I'm a person who hardly ever orders take-out, but this place became a restaurant I picked up food from on a weekly basis. It's that damn good. ... [Read More]
