Hi friends! I hope that all of you had a great weekend. To all of my American readers, I hope that had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and in the midst of your wonderful weekend, that you took the time to honor and remember all of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. In honor of the holiday, I wanted to share a link for a memorial fund for a Marine Corps family. Captain Nannen died in a plane crash in March, and the fund is to raise money for his wife and four young children. Feel free to check it out here to find out more. (source) Weekend Recap I kicked off my weekend around lots of Marines, as my hubby and I went to a reunion for the first squadron my Marine was in. We all met up for a Padres game in downtown San Diego and hung out at a bar afterwards. It ... [Read More]

Weekend Recap: Easter Winery Picnicking
Hi everyone! I hope that your week is off to a great start. Today I'm sharing my favorite eats & activities from my three-day Easter weekend! I kicked off my weekend Thursday evening with a hiking workout with this little lady... ...followed by some at-home yoga. It was perfect weather that fortunately continued throughout the weekend. By the way, I'm sporting a t-shirt sent to me by My Social Canvas -- a really neat design company based in NYC that's dedicated to giving back to various causes in the community. I received the shirt as I was about to go hiking, promptly put it on, loved it and just kept it on. Got to love comfy and cute clothes! On Saturday morning, I was up and out early for a date with Gina in Los Gatos. We bought a Groupon a few months ago for a hiking ... [Read More]
Developing a Healthier Relationship with Food
Recently I had the chance to be interviewed by Adam & Devon Bate for a podcast on The Lifestyle Accountability Show. The premise behind their podcast series is to share the stories of people who lead healthy lifestyles to help motivate and inspire others. As a public relations pro and freelance writer, I am always the one doing the interviewing, so it definitely felt weird being the interviewee. But it was fun to share some of my story and put myself out there in a new way. You can check out the podcast here! Ever go on a job interview or date or something and think later about what you could have said better? Well I am the queen of doing this! I feel like during the podcast, a few of their questions put me on the spot, and later I looked back and thought of answers that ... [Read More]
A Look Back at My Favorite Posts of 2013
Merry Christmas everyone!! My holiday was awesome - full of lots of quality family time with my father-in-law and his side of the family on Christmas Eve, and my family today. I can't believe that Christmas is already over, but even though the holiday is technically done, we still have one more holiday celebration with my hubby's mom coming up. Lots of fun times! More on that to come... but tonight, I thought it'd be nice to take a look back at some of my favorite blog posts of 2013 as the year comes to a close. It seemed like a fun way for me to reminisce, and for you all to check out any blog posts you missed that you're interested in! :) So here we go: Adventure & Life Happenings -- Lessons I Have Learned as a USMC Wife Venice: City of Dreams The World’s Largest Ice ... My Favorite Ways to Eat Apples
Happy Halloween friends! (source) I SO should have made Harley wear this for the occasion! I don't even attempt Halloween costumes because she hates clothes on her and I do admit that the idea is totally ridiculous, but something like this I might be able to get away with. I'm keeping it in my mind for next year, since she's already a satellite dish as I mentioned in my last post. Ha! Well, in about 10 days my hubby and I managed to eat all of the apples we picked (and also the 6-8 apples that we already had in the house!). Last night I went off of this recipe from Sarah at Making Thyme for Health to use the last of them to make BBQ tempeh burgers with cheddar + apple & radicchio slaw: It's safe to say that we're quite apple obsessed this fall. There are a lot of different ... [Read More]
Wine, Pizza, Tartufo, Oh My! My First Dinner in Venice
Sometimes in travel, just like in life in general, things just don't go fabulously. This was the case for my husband and I the day we traveled to Venice from Austria. Everything started off fine. We caught a train from one town in Austria to another, and with 15 minutes in between when the train got into the station and when the bus to Venice left, we figured out where the bus was and made it with a couple minutes to spare. The not so great part of the day started when we got off the bus and had to figure out where the ferry was that could take us to the Lido of Venice where we were staying. After walking around confused for awhile, we found the ferry area but could only find ticket window drive-thrus. My husband went to ask the kiosk man where we could buy tickets, and the man ...
