Happy Friday! What do all of my fellow American readers have planned for the 4th of July weekend? It kind of feels strange for it to fall on a Tuesday this year, and I don't have anything too exciting planned. Besides working on some freelance recipe development & blog stuff, I'm hoping to spend some time outdoors to enjoy the weather - I'm thinking perhaps some time at the beach, a bike ride with the hubby, and soaking up the sun in my backyard poolside. Oh, and my hubby will undoubtedly force me to watch episodes of the HBO John Adams series. It happens every year & he's been putting it on TV late-night all week (much to my dismay!). Happy Hump Day! How's your week going? I've gotten back into the swing of things in SoCal since getting back from vacation. While Mexico was a dream, it's not too shabby coming home when you love where you live, so I can't complain! Like most Americans - any Americans with a sweet tooth, at least - I have Girl Scout cookie memories. Growing up, my mom had a similar sentiment to the food kept in the house as I do now: lots of healthy food, and then a few "goodies" in one cabinet that were treats we broke out after dinner some nights for dessert. (source) My mom bought Girl Scout cookies, but she would usually get ones that I deemed weird (and that still wouldn't be my pick today).
