A few days ago I got a WordPress alert on my phone telling me that it had been THREE years since my first WordPress post. Wow, the years have completely sped by! It's crazy to think about how when I started blogging, I had no idea what a great part of my life it would become. My hubby had just deployed, and I decided to start what was then called Foodie Meets Fitness as a new hobby and a way to share more of my day-to-day life and recipes with loved ones 2,500 miles away. Since then there has been a lot of change and growth around here! ... [Read More]

Foodie Loves Fitness Turns TWO!
Hello, hello! First thing's first: Using a random number generator... Jordan Lynn at Life Between Lattes is the winner of my giveaway for Chef Del's Better Than Vegan cookbook! I'll be emailing you for your address shortly. :) In other fun news, Foodie Loves Fitness turned two today! It's amazing to think about all that has happened in my life since this blog started. When I began the blog, my hubby had just deployed and I thought it was a good time to start a cool project. I loved food, cooking, and staying active, and had been reading health blogs for awhile. I didn't know what the hell I was doing (which is very evident if you read my posts at the beginning!), but I am so happy that I went for it and delved into this big yet somehow small world of healthy living ... A Look Back at My Favorite Posts of 2013
Merry Christmas everyone!! My holiday was awesome - full of lots of quality family time with my father-in-law and his side of the family on Christmas Eve, and my family today. I can't believe that Christmas is already over, but even though the holiday is technically done, we still have one more holiday celebration with my hubby's mom coming up. Lots of fun times! More on that to come... but tonight, I thought it'd be nice to take a look back at some of my favorite blog posts of 2013 as the year comes to a close. It seemed like a fun way for me to reminisce, and for you all to check out any blog posts you missed that you're interested in! :) So here we go: Adventure & Life Happenings -- Lessons I Have Learned as a USMC Wife Venice: City of Dreams The World’s Largest Ice ... Happy SITS Day to Me
Hi friends! Guess what today is? If you're thinking National Pistachio Day, weirdly enough you're right...but that's actually not what I'm referring to. Today is my SITS Day! The SITS Girls is a community of women bloggers - 40,000 of them! - with a tagline of "where women get social." The brand is all about creating a resource for people to find support online and become social media savvy. They offer tons of info on how to better your blog and grow your online presence. In a nutshell (intentional phrasing in honor of National Pistachio Day!), they're fabulous! So what does it mean that it's my SITS Day? Today I'm highlighted on The SITS Girls website as their featured blogger: http://www.thesitsgirls.com/bloggers/foodie-loves-fitness/ I love the idea of women supporting ... [Read More]
My Blogging Anniversary
Yesterday was my blog's 1st birthday! I remember writing my first blog post and wondering what type of blog my site would turn into. Would I be someone who posted all of their eats on a daily basis? Would I only post recipes? Was it okay if I also threw some random topics of interest into the mix? This was something I thought about a lot over the course of the year, but not too much into it I came to the same conclusion about my blog as I have for life in general: there are no rules! There's no ''right" or ''wrong" way to go about blogging, just as there aren't set guidelines to how you need to live your life. You just have to follow your heart and do things your own way - to me, this is the way that you'll be most happy. With that, I decided that I'd write about what I wanted ... [Read More]
