Happy Spring! Can you believe that we're almost a quarter into 2018? It's crazy how time flies! I feel like these months have sped by so quickly. Today seems like a good time to recap my recent workouts with you all. For anyone new here, I usually do a recent workout post every couple of months to chat about the most challenging workouts I've done, fun new local fitness studios and events I've been to, and to share my fitness goals for the upcoming months. At the start of the year, I decided that I wanted to regularly go to more tough classes, so one thing I did was re-join ClassPass. I collaborated with them when they first came to San Diego a few years ago, and I honestly love being able to bounce around to different studios. It's perfect for someone that gets bored easily in ... [Read More]

Workouts Lately – July ’17 Edition: Switching it Up with Pure Barre, Swimming, CycleBar & More
Somehow it's been a few months since I've talked about my workout routine, but today I'm sharing what my sweat sessions have been like lately! Lately I've had a good mix of at-home workouts, outdoor workouts and studio classes. One studio that I've taken classes at a couple of times over the past month is Pure Barre Del Mar. I had taken a break from barre after a foot injury last year, but when the folks at Pure Barre invited me to try out their studio, I felt like it was a good time to try it out again. I've tried a lot of different barre styles - including Xtend Barre, The Dailey Method, and Bar Method (I compared the three styles awhile back here), but Pure Barre in particular was new to me. I found Pure Barre classes to really work little muscles that generally don't get ... [Read More]
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone By Feeling the Fear & Doing it Anyway
Hi friends! How has your week been? It has been quite a busy one for me. Lots of good stuff happening, including my participation in a workshop to get certified to teach Yoga Sculpt! If you've read any of my monthly workout recaps recently, you may have noticed that I've been going to Yoga Sculpt classes. I love the mix of cardio, weight training and bodyweight exercises with a bit of Om sprinkled in. It's a little bit of yoga, and a lot of sweating and sculpting. Out of the many kinds of classes that I've taken, the one I'd probably want to teach the most is Yoga Sculpt, so when the opportunity came up for me to take a certification class, I went with my heart and jumped on it. While I'm obviously a longtime fitness lover and have gotten to do a lot of cool ... [Read More]
My Workouts Lately: Pure Cycling, Hiking & More [Nov & Dec ’16]
Hi friends! Is it just me, or is January flying by?! Today I want to rewind a bit and look back at my workouts of November and December '16. I capped off my year with many awesome sweat sessions! I kept up with doing an at-home yoga practice most mornings, though I feel like I stuck more to the basics and didn't challenge myself with new/deepening asanas all that much. Well okay, this pose is a pretty tough one! Class-wise, November was fun because I got to experience spin classes at a new studio in downtown San Diego called Pure Indoor Cycling. The folks at the studio kindly gave me a complimentary membership to try out their classes, and you guys, I had so much fun taking spin classes there! Pure offers the club-esque type of cycling classes that are ... [Read More]
My Workouts Lately // Sept & Oct ’16 {Fortis & YOGALUX Classes, Core Power Yoga, & Hiking!}
Happy Halloween! If you trick-or-treat at my house tonight, you'll be greeted by a barking Batpuppy: I celebrated Halloween yesterday by carving pumpkins and watching scary movies with my hubby, and making jack-o-lantern stuffed peppers for dinner. Are you celebrating the holiday with some treats? If you're looking for a way to offset those extra candy calories today, try this at-home Halloween workout: And speaking of workouts, today I'm sharing what I've been up to lately on the fitness front! I had a bit of an injury scare about a week and a half ago, when I spent a few days thinking that I might have broken my middle toe after tripping at my door when walking inside from my backyard. Total klutz move! I was totally sober, but I was going to open wine, so I may have ... [Read More]
What Makes You Fit? {Biking in Austria}
"Are you fit?" "Did you say that you workout?" These were the questions our tour guide was shouting to me as I struggled to keep up with him and my husband biking through the hills of Austria. We had booked a bike tour in hopes of seeing more of the beautiful Austria countryside and getting some leisurely exercise in during our vacation there, but I wasn't so prepared to be huffing and puffing with my heart rate at a sky-high level. Our guide was a little man in his 60s, originally from somewhere in Asia, who seemed to be in good shape for his age and told us he exercised daily. While I already knew that my husband was stronger and faster on a bike than I was from our bike date workouts through the hills of California, I wasn't really expecting our guide to be as hardcore of ...
