“Keep close to Nature’s heart ... and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” - John Muir Happy Earth Day! You may remember that a few weeks ago I shared a new playlist that I've been rocking out to. Well, when I get on a music downloading and playlist arranging kick, I don't stop at just one playlist. Besides my latest feel-good workout playlist, I also came up with a new playlist to listen to while I practice yoga. Besides yoga, I've also been listening to this playlist during stretch/foam rolling sessions. It'd also be a good one for those who do barre workouts on their own. The playlist is a combo of slower jams (i.e. Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down") and more fast-paced songs (like Imagine Dragon's "I Bet My ... [Read More]

My Latest Feel-Good Workout Playlist {March 2015}
Whenever I'm working out on my own, either at a gym or at home, one important factor is the music I'm listening to. I definitely exercise harder when I'm listening to good music, and if I'm kind of slacking, a good beat will get me moving faster. I have 2 categories of music I jam out to during sweat sessions: either what I think of as "fight" music, which includes any songs with almost angry lyrics that get me feeling pumped up - think Eminem and Jay-Z's "Renegade" or one of my favorites, Fall Out Boy's "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" - or feel-good music that just makes me want to dance and move a lot. I can listen to the same few playlists for months if they have songs on them that I'm a big fan of, but then there comes a time when I need to switch it up and download some ... [Read More]
My Latest Yoga Playlist {January 2014}
Hi friends! Hope that you had a fabulous weekend and made it through your Monday nicely. As I had hoped for, my weekend was pretty relaxing and uneventful. It included spending time with my hubby and puppy, getting a few work/school things done, watching football, running a few errands and cleaning my house. After being sore all of the last week from kickass workouts at the gym, I gave my body a few days to rest a bit with lower impact workouts. I went for an afternoon hike with my little family at the park down the street from us, Harvey Bear Ranch County Park. Beautiful scenery as usual, though it's still so yellow everywhere due to lack of rain in the Bay Area. I'm hoping we get a bit of rain so that I can see lots of green on my hikes sometime soon! Why hello ... [Read More]

My Top 25 Workout Playlist
I really believe that the music you listen to while exercising can make or break your workout. For me, a good playlist can turn my mood from feeling tired and not all that into it, to not only feeling like I can power through my exercise routine, but also focus on what I'm doing and kick some major ass. Music helps me amp up my workouts and put all of energy into it. My gym playlist has around 150 songs. Sometimes I shuffle the song order around, but I like to have some music at the beginning of the playlist that I can count on to get me into the groove. Every few months I add some new music to the list to keep me from getting bored and sick of the songs, and then I switch the order of existing songs around as well. Today was the first time I worked out at the gym since updating my ... [Read More]
Switching Up My Playlist
Like many avid exercisers, I rely on music to help keep my workouts strong, and sometimes, to give me motivation when I find it lacking. Sometimes I feel like I'm dragging through a workout, and then that one jam will come on and I'll get that extra oomph I need. Every couple of months I rearrange my playlist and download some new tunes to keep it from getting musically monotonous. After a bit of revamping tonight, here are the songs at the top of my list: As you may be able to tell, I like some variety in my music! And here are my favorite songs right now for cool down time: Good music is all I need sometimes to turn the switch on... ;-) ... [Read More]
