Hello friends! I don't know about you guys, but a low-key weekend was much needed for me after my week last week. A couple of things with work and otherwise kind of bogged me down, and I totally needed a few days to mentally decompress a bit. Luckily, my hubby and I had only one thing on the agenda for the weekend: getting our carpets cleaned, because every time I did a pushup in recent months, I'd get a whiff of a certain someone who loves to snooze on my living room floor... While we waited for our carpets to dry, we killed time at the Del Mar dog beach. It was a beautiful day for a long walk there! There are certainly worse places to waste time. :) My weekend also included an at-home movie night, a long family walk along the coast Sunday morning, heading back to ... [Read More]

Recovering from a Tough Mountain Biking Adventure
Hi friends! How was your weekend? Mine was full of time outdoors - just how I like it! The weather was in the low 70s and glorious. We also got a teeny bit of welcomed rain yesterday afternoon. My time spent in nature over the weekend included an early Friday evening hike with my pup at Elfin Forest... ...a long Sunday morning walk with my little family on an otherwise pretty lazy rest day... ...and my outdoorsy highlight: a super challenging mountain biking workout with my hubby on Saturday afternoon. We decided to venture southeast to a park we'd never been to before called Goodan Ranch Sycamore Canyon Preserve. We hadn't gone mountain biking in at least a few months, and whew, it was a killer one! The park was set in a pretty rural area, and we even got a taste of ... [Read More]
Weekend Awesomeness
Yup, another weekend has sped on by. Besides doing a couple of hours of freelance writing work, my weekend was obligation-free and fabulous. Here are some snapshots of the bits of awesomeness that made up my Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Caramel apples make my dog very attentive: On Saturday evening, my hubby and I had a mountain biking date at our favorite spot around here. The views are gorgeous, there are lots of animals around, and because it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, the park is never in the least bit crowded. Adam took a few shots of me riding... which I wasn't even aware of because he's always like a mile ahead of me. Damn his strong legs! As you can kind of tell, there's a steep drop if you steer off the path, and the path is not all that wide. I'm ... [Read More]
Broccoli Red Pepper Quiche
Yesterday marked my first mountain biking excursion of the year. Biking on a rocky, mountainous trail is both exhilarating and scary. One of the things I love about San Diego is that we have access to so many things in such a short distance -- from the beach and wineries, to mountains and countryside. The place where Adam and I went biking yesterday is just a couple minutes away, yet it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. It was a lot of fun and a nice workout. Speaking of bikes, this weekend my hubby got another kind of bike: That's right, I suppose I'm going to be a biker babe now! Adam has been wanting a motorcycle, and what better time than soon after he returned home from a deployment, right?! He's in the process of getting his motorcycle license, and soon we'll be ...
