Happy Friday friends! Do you have anything awesome planned for the weekend? I'm very much looking forward to spending it with my hubby, and we have something special planned for tomorrow. More on that to come! As usual, I'm sure that I'll fit a workout or two into my weekend... and speaking of workouts, I have a good one to share with you guys today! In honor of me breaking my muscle tweak streak and not having any muscle spasms or serious aches in the last few weeks, today I'm sharing a leg & booty HIIT workout that'll definitely make you sweat. I created this routine months ago and have done it a bunch of times, but for some reason I'm just getting to sharing it now. Perhaps it's because I wanted to snap some shots of me doing the moves for some visual explanation, and ... [Read More]

Quickie Cardio Leg Blast
Hi friends! After a couple of days of feeling icky and taking it a bit easy, I'm feeling more like myself today. Having more of my normal energy levels, my Thursday was a nicely active day, with half hour walks with my dog first thing this morning and also tonight, and squeezing in a quick hour of volunteering at the Humane Society walking dogs before heading to the gym for a sweaty workout this evening. On my way to volunteer, I slugged down a bottle of Well Well Wow! - a liquid blend of chlorella growth factor and eleuthero that's meant to energize you without the jittery side effects of caffeine. As I've talked about before, I'm a fan of consuming algae. Chlorella is a superfood algae that is thought to detoxify the body. So when the makers of Well Well Wow!, Sun Chlorella, asked ... My Favorite Lower Body Strengthening Moves
Lately I haven't been blogging too much about my workouts. I've certainly been exercising, but as I've mentioned before, I've been going to physical therapy for a torn calf muscle. While I've been moving a lot, my workouts haven't been quite as diverse and hardcore as usual. This means no recent 2-hour sweaty hikes with Harley. No mountain biking excursions with Adam. And no workouts drilling my lower body as of late. Am I anxious to get back into workout normalcy? Absolutely. But I've been trying to abandon my ignore-the-pain-balls-to-the-wall mentality and adopt a more listen-to-my-body mindfulness. So what have I been doing? I've been trying to keep things at least a bit interesting by coming up with new workout ideas - like the 20 exercise routine or my sit up/push up/plank ... [Read More]
All About the Legs: Today’s Circuit Workout
Remember in yesterday's post I mentioned having a great workout? Yeaaaa... this morning I woke up super sore. The kind of sore when putting on a seatbelt seems like a difficult task (no joke). I really didn't want to skip exercising today, but also knew that I was limited by serious muscle soreness. So what's a girl to do? Get her butt to the gym for a strictly lower body workout! Here's how this routine works: Start off with a 5 minute warm-up. In between rounds, do 5 minutes of cardio of your choice (I cycled). I used 12 lb dumbbells. Adjust your weight based on your strength level. When doing exercises 1 side at a time, right rep + left rep = 1 total rep This workout took me a bit shy of an hour to complete. Some explanations of exercises from around the Web: Static Reverse ... [Read More]
Jello Legs + Mango Sorbet
Today was one of those days when my workout made me feel completely mentally energized. I went to the gym feeling scatterbrained from the day, and left feeling calm and renewed. As the title implies, I did a leg workout and by the end of it, they felt a little jello-like (but in the most awesome way possible!). I'm sharing it with you in hopes that you'll try it out and get the same results. I don't like when I read about workouts and am not sure what certain moves are, so I did a Google search to plug some images in here from around the web that show what exercises I'm talking about. Also, I take very minimal time in between reps and sets to feel the maximum burn and keep my heart rate up. After I did my leg workout, I hopped on the treadmill for an interval run routine (also included ... [Read More]
