Hi there, and Happy Friday! I hope that you all have some awesome plans for the weekend. I have some fun fitness related plans that I'm looking forward to (more on that later)! So guess what? I only have a few more lessons and an exam left at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and then I'll be a certified health and wellness coach! I can't believe how fast this whole year of school has gone. Last weekend IIN had live sessions in NYC, and while I couldn't be there in person (hopefully one day I can make it to a weekend of live lectures!), I was able to live stream some of the weekend's lectures. All I have to say is that this school is full of amazing, inspirational students and teachers. I have just been soaking it all in, and I've truly enjoyed my experience at IIN. In ... [Read More]

Three Awesome Ways to Use Tea Tree Oil
I grew up in a household where more natural health remedies were common: I remember that when we got a cold, my mom used to have us put drops of echinacea in orange juice (I also remember it being nasty!) and gargle with warm salt water to cure any sore throat that started coming on. She usually cleaned with a spray bottle containing a simple mix of water and white vinegar. Funny enough, as I'm typing this while I'm visiting my family, I looked over to see this spray bottle on my mom's kitchen counter: In my adulthood, I too find myself looking to more natural solutions, with everything from the cure for a rash to what I clean my house with. That’s why when Apothecary Extracts reached out to me asking if I’d like to try their 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil, I happily agreed. I ... [Read More]
An Afternoon of Holistic Health Treatments: Real Results or Placebo Effects?
Hello, hello! I awoke on my birthday yesterday to a bouquet of bright flowers sitting in my kitchen. I always can appreciate some pretty flowers! I started my morning off with a relaxing yoga session.... ...and followed it up with a delicious birthday breakfast: chocolate chip banana pancakes drizzled with cashew butter. Cashew butter is my current favorite nut butter! Birthdays always make me appreciate just how many people care about me. All day long I received calls, texts, cards, and gifts from the people I love. I'm definitely a lucky woman! I got not one but TWO Edible Arrangement deliveries - one from my parents, and one from my friend Danielle. I suppose that they really know that the way to my heart is through chocolate and fruit! My hubby gave me a bunch of music books ... [Read More]
IIN Chat: What’s a Health Coach?
Happy Wednesday! I feel like this week is just flying by! I've been super busy, and my work week is short because I'm heading down to San Diego on Friday (more on the exciting reason behind my trip to come soon!). Last night my hubby and I had a rare weekday date night. I had gotten him tickets to see Kings of Leon as a Christmas gift, so we headed into San Jose to see them perform. The concert was a lot of fun! :) Moving along to the topic of today's post, after doing a recap of my first month as a student at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (a second one to come in the near future!), a couple of people asked me to go more in-depth as to what a health coach is. So let's get into it! At IIN, health coaches are believed to be the future of our healthcare system. At ... [Read More]
