"Every time you buy, you're voting for the world you want or the world you don't want." - Gary Hirshberg, Chairman of Stonyfield and Founder of Just Label It & Only Organic I found this to be the most powerful sentence I heard at last week's ShiftCon event. It's such a simple and somewhat obvious statement, but it brings to light the fact that when you purchase something, you're supporting a product - and not only the product itself, but also how it was made. ShiftCon took place last week in the pretty town of Manhattan Beach, and was an event geared towards health, wellness and green living. You can check out this YouTube video to get a better idea of what the conference is all about. I randomly won a ticket to the event through my ambassadorship with FitFluential, and was ... 7 Healthy Snacks I’m Loving Lately
While some people feel best eating three square meals a day, I'm much more of a small-meals-and-snacks kinda girl. Typically eating something every three or four hours means that I usually have healthy on-the-go munchies in my purse and car, as well a number of favorite healthy quick snacks in mind. Here are some of my current top snack picks: [apple with nut butter & cinnamon] I've declared my love for apples before, and lately one of snacks I'm loving the most is an apple sliced with some peanut/almond/cashew butter and sprinkled with cinnamon. It's a nice mix of healthy carbs, fat and protein, and nut butter has a way of keeping me from being starving a few hours later. [Blue Diamond honey roasted cinnamon & honey dijon almonds] While I've been a fan of Blue ... [Read More]
Blueberry Almond Granola
Recipe creation is a funny thing sometimes. At times, I come up with an idea for a recipe moments before and I just throw ingredients together. Other times, I have a recipe in my head for weeks and weeks that I just have a feeling will be a winner that I will want to share on here, but it takes me awhile to actually make and photograph it. The latter was the case with this granola. When I randomly threw a bag of dried blueberries into my shopping cart one day, the idea of making granola with them immediately popped into my head... but then I wound up eating all the blueberries before I could get to making any granola. Oops. So then I had to wait until the next time I found myself in a food store with dried blues to make this recipe. But, the next time I went to make this ... [Read More]

Happy Hump Day! Being that it has been quite awhile since I linked up to the What I Ate Wednesday blogger party, I decided to join in on this fun this week. Today's WIAW post features my favorite eats from the past week - because as any normal food blogger, whenever I eat something tasty, I snap a photo or two! So what goodies has this vegetarian been munching on? ... [Read More]
My Favorite Foods to Pack for Trips
Hi there! Hope that you all are having a fabulous weekend. Mine is going very good so far. I leave for Las Vegas in the morning for a work trip, so here I am, yet again procrastinating packing and instead blogging....not surprising given that I was doing the exactly same thing about 10 days ago before my last trip! Speaking of traveling, today I want to talk about packing food for trips. Traveling can be so unpredictable. Maybe you'll have healthy food options available, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you'll be in a rush, while other times your grumbling belly causes you to buy overpriced crappy food at the airport while waiting for your delayed flight to get moving. And since I'm paranoid about going hungry without any good options around (I blame this on my mother, who always has ... [Read More]
Back in Action with WIAW
Happy Hump Day! I haven't done a What I Ate Wednesday post in awhile, but today I'm back in action with my first recap post since starting my experiment with going gluten free. Apparently I'm all about the blogger parties this week since this is the second day in a row that I'm joining in on one! A big thanks to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for hosting the party. My breakfast was a chocolate cinnamon protein shake. I know that most of you reading this are shivering just at the thought of a smoothie, but I had gotten in a quick workout first thing in the morning so I was all nice and schweaty and ready for something cold. In the mix: chocolate almond milk + Designer Whey chocolate protein powder + Just Great Stuff chocolate peanut butter powder + banana + cinnamon + ... [Read More]
