Happy Friday friends! What's on the agenda for your weekend? A few things I have going on are a party to attend, plans to go to brunch with my hubby, and the final evaluation of the 6-week fitness challenge that I've been participating in happening. I'm looking to beat all the numbers I had set at the beginning evaluation of the challenge, but more on that to come! Speaking of working out, today let's chat about exercising at home. While I often workout at my HIIT studio, exercise outdoors, pop into my yoga studio or try out a new gym, I also enjoy being able to workout at home sometimes. My guest bedroom also doubles as my fitness room, and it's nice to have the option to just pop in there for a quickie workout when I don't have a lot of time to sweat. Typically I do workout ... What Makes You Fit? {Biking in Austria}
"Are you fit?" "Did you say that you workout?" These were the questions our tour guide was shouting to me as I struggled to keep up with him and my husband biking through the hills of Austria. We had booked a bike tour in hopes of seeing more of the beautiful Austria countryside and getting some leisurely exercise in during our vacation there, but I wasn't so prepared to be huffing and puffing with my heart rate at a sky-high level. Our guide was a little man in his 60s, originally from somewhere in Asia, who seemed to be in good shape for his age and told us he exercised daily. While I already knew that my husband was stronger and faster on a bike than I was from our bike date workouts through the hills of California, I wasn't really expecting our guide to be as hardcore of ... SoulCycle Fun in NYC
Hey friends! Long time no talk. The last bunch of days have been a whirlwind, and last night I arrived back to Cali after my 17-day stint in NJ. I was planning on writing this post while I was in the skies, but quickly abandoned that idea when I found myself in a middle seat next to a big man whose arm was resting in my territory the entire flight. Oh United Airlines, your seats keep getting smaller and smaller, but I keep flying with you because your flights time are the best and I enjoy racking up my miles. Anywho, rewinding back a few days, my weekend was spent with A's family in Pennsylvania at his cousin's wedding, visiting his mom and grandmom back in Jersey, then ending at my parents' house for a family dinner. Lots of family time, and a great way to end my trip! Prior to ... [Read More]
Dog Beach Date + A New Biking PR
Love this quote. Speaking of moving, today I hit a new biking PR. Let's get one thing straight, I'm no avid cyclist. I think mountain biking is a lot of fun, but most of the cycling I do is on a stationary bike at my gym to get the cardio portion of my workout in. I've mentioned in previous posts that recently we got new, more high tech bikes, and I'm having fun setting distance goals when I do longer rides. I began alternating the resistance every other mile, keeping my heart rate between 60-65% for a mile, then upping the level to bike at 70-80% of my max heart rate for a mile. At first, I just wanted to get to 15 miles. Then it became 20. Next I hit 25. And today, I went past that to 26.2. I got to 26, and then thought, hmm why not go an extra .2 in honor of the marathon I have no ... [Read More]
